Maegan Elizabeth Phillips is a 22 year old senior majoring in psychology
and business at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Maegan was raised in Centreville, Virginia from the age of
two, and completed the first three years of her college education
at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. At GMU Maegan
was a member of many clubs and organizations, including Alpha
Omicron Pi, an all women's fraternity focused on philanthropy
and community service. She is currently an intern for the REU
program at UNCC where she works on a research project with
psychologists at the University.
Maegan's
family now lives in Quantico, and she currently works
for her father's defense
contracting company on the Quantico Marine Corps base in
Virginia. Along
with working, Maegan has been involved with many volunteer organizations, such
as the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Southwestern Youth Association,
the Humane Society, the Arthritis Foundation, and Best Buddies Virginia. In
her spare time, Maegan enjoys cooking, reading, taking
her bulldog for long walks,
playing piano and traveling.
After
college, Maegan plans to obtain a PhD in clinical psychology
and have her own practice. During
her reign as MISS VIRGINIA USA®, she plans to raise
awareness about Cystic Fibrosis, a genetic disease that affects 30,000 Americans
and about 70,000 children and adults worldwide. She will compete for the title
of MISS USA® in April, 2009 with the finals being telecast live on NBC
April 19, 2009 from the Planet Hollywood Resort.
